Lord Of The Rings Online Community Assembled To Pay Respects To Bilbo Baggins Actor Ian Holm

Lord of the Rings Online

Fans of Tolkien’s works can be incredibly passionate about many of the various characters and their portrayals in media such as games, movies, and TV shows. The late Ian Holm, for example, did an incredible job portraying Bilbo Baggins throughout the Peter Jackson renditions of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films. His passing resonated with many fans and people the actor worked with including the Lord of the Rings Online community who held various events in-game mourning and celebrating the life of Holm and his contribution to the Lord of the Rings franchise.

To pay their respects, players began holding events marking the death of the talented actor in various ways across multiple servers. One instance saw hundreds of fans walking to Rivendell as the song Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold was played. Another instance saw players gathering in front of Bag End as fireworks were launched into the sky as music was again played in the background and fans mourned the loss. Similar reports saw fans heading to places that had a major impact on the life of Bilbo as a character such as the Celondim docks, various places in the Shire, and Rivendell.
