The Sims Pride Parade Event Will Virtually Celebrate LGBTQ+ Players
As the world’s population is well aware at this point, the coronavirus pandemic has shaken society’s ability to hold large events. Commercial events like San Diego Comic Con and E3 have been forced to be cancelled, and hold their events digitally. While this month is indeed LGBTQ+ pride month, real world pride events have mostly decided to be postponed or cancelled in the interest of health and safety. It seems that EA wishes to give LGBTQ+ gamers a chance to still celebrate pride month digitally, with a Sims pride parade virtual event in The Sims 4.
EA announced the upcoming Sims pride parade with a new blog post on their official Sims website. Starting today June 15th until June 29th, The Sims 4 players are being encouraged to share photos of their Sim’s best LGBTQ+ pride look and use the hashtag #SimsPride2020. EA will review those who use the hashtag, and invite those that submitted their favorite photos to participate in the virtual pride parade event taking place in The Sims 4 that will be live-streamed on the official Sims Twitch channel. As the blog post states:
We want you to show your full expression of self. Be you. Embrace your fabulousness. Honor our history; honor each other. Whoever and however you love, whoever you are—whether you’re a woman, a man, neither, or both—be proud. Play with life. Play with love.”
The Sims pride parade event will stream on June 30th in partnership with YouTube star EnglishSummer, and it will also be featured on the Sims Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Twitter accounts. So, if you’re sad that you won’t be able to celebrate the LGBTQ community IRL, take to these social media platforms and let your rainbow looks be seen, and your voice heard. Just don’t use simlish on social media. It’s hard to read.
