The Medium PS5 DualSense Features Detailed (VIDEO)
Following a successful debut on Microsoft platforms, Bloober Team’s The Medium is officially coming to the PlayStation 5, with Sony teasing a number of exciting DualSense features for the awaited horror game port. While exactly what players would expect has so far remained unclear, Bloober producer Szymon Erdmanski has shared how The Medium PS5 version will take advantage of the DualSense controller’s various capabilities.
As revealed in a new PlayStation Blog post, The Medium will introduce several features unique to the interactive PS5 controller, including the hardware’s built-in haptic feedback and adaptive trigger technologies. Haptic feedback can be felt throughout the game’s immense dual-reality worlds, with players feeling the bump of obstacles as Marianne activates her Spirit Shield or the pulsating dread of death when using the Out of Body ability.
Adaptive triggers also similarly feature throughout, with the Spirit Blast ability being particularly of note. As players build up power for the maneuver, the trigger will start out rigid and slowly ease as the energy builds to the proper level. An accompanying trailer shows off a number of other features included with The Medium PS5 port, including touch and motion controls for investigation scenes, and speaker and light bar functionality for an added layer of immersion. Check out the video below.
On top of all these newly revealed features, Bloober also promised some surprises being left for the game, teasing “a lot of hand-picked moments in the story enhanced with the gamepad’s features.” However, the developer stopped short of providing any extra clues for “spoiler” reasons, assuring the team has kept “a couple of aces up [their] sleeves” for the upcoming release. With less than a month remaining, it looks like fans will just have to speculate until then.
The Medium releases for PlayStation 5 on September 3rd. The game is available now for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
