Beyond Good and Evil 2 Last-Gen Versions Seemingly Cancelled
It was revealed all the way back in 2017 that Beyond Good and Evil would be getting a sequel. Unfortunately since then there’s been little information about the upcoming game, leaving fans very much in the dark about the highly anticipated title. Sadly, it appears now that if any players are able to enjoy Beyond Good and Evil 2 at all, it won’t be anyone playing on last-generation consoles.
A recent post from a user named glebanych explains that they had requested an invite for the upcoming Tom Clancy title XDefiant, and were disappointed to find that the code they requested was for a different platform. The user also explained that they noticed something else peculiar as well concerning a beta for Beyond Good and Evil 2. Previously, players were able to sign up for a code that was for PC, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One. Currently, however, players are only able to choose an option between the current generation of consoles alongside the PC platform, which suggests that the game may not be in development for last-gen consoles.
Editor’s note: There is also some possibility that codes were simply limited for Xbox One and PS4, though the lengthy time in development may suggest otherwise.
Ubisoft has claimed in the past that the development on Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been going well and is still in production, however it’s been quite some time since we’ve seen any meaningful developments regarding the title. Seeing a change in the potential platforms the game will be playable on isn’t too surprising at this point, but it may be disappointing for fans hoping to be able to engage with the content on last-gen consoles.
