The Mandalorian Season 3 Adds Back To The Future’s Christopher Lloyd

The Mandalorian Season 3

As the streaming wars grow increasingly intense, the major streaming platforms are looking to exclusive content to drive new and sustained subscribers towards their services. Easily one of the most successful exclusive series on a streaming service has been The Mandalorian, which nearly single-handedly contributed to the rise of Disney+ during its early days of availability. The tradition has been upheld through recent spinoff series The Book of Boba Fett, but now fans are once again awaiting the return of Din Djarin. Well, it seems his return will have him meeting new faces, as The Mandalorian season 3 has cast a Back to the Future star.

Deadline reported on the casting news for The Mandalorian season 3. Lucasfilm confirmed that Christopher Lloyd will be a part of the new season of the Star Wars series in what is described as a “guest starring” role. The actor is, of course, best known for his work in the Back to the Future films as “Doc” Emmett Brown. Lloyd is also known for his work in films like One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, and more recently, Bob Odenkirk’s Nobody. This continues the series’ trend of casting actors known for starring in other major sci-fi franchises, including The Predator’s Carl Weathers and The Terminator’s Michael Biehn.

The Mandalorian Season 3

It is not yet known what role Lloyd might be playing in The Mandalorian season 3, but reports and rumors so far have pointed towards the new season’s plot largely focusing on Din Djarin’s quest to reclaim the planet Mandalore for his fellow Mandalorians from the remnants of the Empire. Lloyd is an American treasure and is definitely worthy of receiving a significant role in the Star Wars universe. Here is hoping he is revealed to be something awesome like BB-8’s creator or Jar Jar Binks’s great-great-grandfather.
