Telltale’s Game of Thrones Season Two “On Hold”

Game of Thrones Season Two 02

Between the show’s epic season 7 finale and the debunked rumors of a new game from Bethesda, the Game of Thrones (GoT) franchise has been quite the topic of discussion as of late. When there is such a highly regarded franchise such as this one, it’s no surprise that fans want to experience it in every medium possible. Since GoT is such a story driven series, it makes sense that Telltale Games would provide an epic game in their notorious ‘”choose your own adventure” style. The first season in Telltale’s series may not have been their best title to date, but fans were excited when the company made the announcement that a sequel was on its way. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem likely that fans will get a Game of Thrones Season Two from the developers in the immediate future.

In a recent interview, Head of Creative Communications Job Stauffer was talking all things Telltale. When the question arose if whether or not fans could be expecting Game of Thrones Season Two alongside next year’s Wolf Among UsStauffer answered:

“Uhhh… no. Not long after the conclusion of the first season we said would be continuing, and we had designs on the future of Telltale’s Game of Thrones. Right now that is on hold. We haven’t announced it, which does not mean it’s never coming but I think right now we’re anxious to get back into Wolf, Walking Dead and Batman and see where things go with the narrative of the [Game of Thrones] show before we really come back to the table with something we’re excited about.”

It may not be the news fans were hoping for, but if it’s looked at in an optimistic way; the idea is still on the table. Instead of rushing into it, the developers seem to be waiting for more of the HBO series’ story to unfold before jumping onto Season Two. The dedicated fans will wait as long as needed because that’s what we’re accustomed to.

The first season of Telltale’s GoT is available now on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 & 4, as well as mobile platforms.
