Telltale Games Looking At Both ‘Black Mirror’ and ‘Stranger Things’ for Next Game, New Engine

Telltale Games hasn’t been shy about the fact that they are in a position where change needs to happen. With The Wolf Among Us 2 slated for next year, the team going full steam ahead regarding their creative direction. We’ve previously reported that Stranger Things was coming to the world of TellTale, but it seems like that’s only the beginning of a proposed partnership between the studio and Netflix.

The team that has created such amazing games such as The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands, Batman: The Enemy Within, Game of Thrones, and so much more now has their sites set on another Netflix original in addition to Stranger Things; Black Mirror. In addition to the new narrative journeys, the team is also looking at evolving past the Telltale Tool and more into something that is not “played out,” according to community feedback. According to recent reports, Unity will be the chosen medium going forward.

The new engine will take time, as the report mentions “a new engine means growing pains. Developers are re-learning how to manage workflow as they adapt to the new engine. This is causing a longer process than Telltale is used to working.” But it is a period of growth, and one long-time fans have been hoping for through the recent years.

Telltale will be experimenting with its even more interactive engine, with more details rumored to be revealed during the upcoming San Diego Comic Con experience. As far as Black Mirror goes, it’s much more than simple rumblings. Job Stauffer, who used to be with the company, has mentioned delving into the enrapturous world of Black Mirror, as well as creator Charlie Brooker having hinted at it as well.

It seems like it will be an incredibly busy time for the company and many of us here at DFTG are absolutely in love with their work. From the fans here, we will them well and hope for many more successful launches in the future!

What other franchises would you like to see the narrative team over at TellTale tackle? Personally, I’d love to see a Goosebumps entry, but that’s my age talking a little bit.
