Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Character Unlock Guide, Classic Mode

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has finally been released, and the game has many players very occupied this weekend. The title offers a Smash Bros. true to the form that the series has been known for. While much of its content is available right out of the gate, such as the various battle stages, like Smash Bros. games of the past this one has many characters that must be unlocked before being able to play as them. Some players have had difficulty trying to unlock specific characters, but luckily, a new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character unlock guide has surfaced.

Reddit user realermemoryman3 has released the new infographic seen above on the official Smash Bros. subreddit. Fighters can be unlocked through many different ways, including the World of Light story mode, but this infographic is particularly for those that favor the Classic Mode which returns from previous Smash games. Ultimate starts players off with only the eight original Smash fighters from the first Smash game on Nintendo 64, and lists which characters can be unlocked by these original eight fighters.

The graphic lists which specific fighters are unlocked by each of the eight original fighters upon completion of Classic Mode with that character. For instance, completing Classic Mode as Mario will unlock Sonic, and completing the mode as Sonic will in turn unlock Bayonetta, and so on down the column starting with Mario. If a player particularly favors one of the eight original fighters, that fighter can be used to complete the Classic Mode to unlock the next fighter down their list. If fighters are unlocked outside of Classic Mode, the player will be able to skip that character’s spot in the column. For instance, if a player already unlocked Bowser, they can play as Donkey Kong to unlock the Pokémon Trainer. This is a nifty little guide that hopefully helps players track down every last available fighter. Just like Ash Ketchum says, “Gotta Smash ‘em All!”
