Super Smash Bros Ultimate Adds Ken And Incineroar To The Roster (VIDEO)

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Adds Ken And Incineroar To The Roster (VIDEO)

Every fighter, stage, and item ever featured in Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros series is being brought back for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, but this reunion has hardly exempt new additions from the fold. The Belmont clan from Castlevania and monstrous Metroid villain Ridley were two of the standout fighters finally making their debut in the upcoming fighting game, with even more promised to follow.

That date has finally arrived, introducing the fighting title’s final round of characters before the game’s release later this year. The first of these big reveals saw the introduction of Street Fighter’s Ken to the expansive roster, giving him prominence in a epic cinematic trailer. Of course, this lone unveiling wasn’t the last, as this announcement also saw the imposing Pokémon Incineroar bring its heavy-hitting moves to the brawl-based proceedings.

As a Ryu Echo Fighter, Ken sports a similar moveset to his rival Street Fighter alumni, but keeps his signature set of martial arts maneuvers many fans might recognize. Ken is as kicky as ever and can move across arenas at a slightly faster speed than Ryu. His two Final Smash attacks incorporate the character’s Shinryuken and Shippu Jinraikyaku, but soups them up with all that signature Super Smash flashiness.

Next revealed is Incineroar, the Pocket Monster with a focus on over-the-top wrestling moves. As such, throws and melee attacks are typically more powerful than other roster members, and often bookends moves with showboating poses to get a cheap pop from the audience. Another incorporation of grappling moves is found in its Final Smash, Incineroar performing an explosively-charged diving move called Max Malicious Moonsault. Check it all out in the footage below.

With Ken and Incineroar being the two last fighters added to Super Smash Bros Ultimate, the roster now stands at 74 fighters, not counting the many echo fighters likely bringing that number closer to 100. Of course, new characters weren’t the only exciting announcements made during the Smash Bros direct, one recent development detailing how to acquire new spirits. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases for Nintendo Switch on December 7th.
