Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Adds Joker From Persona 5 (VIDEO)

Nintendo President Addresses Persona 5 Nintendo Switch Rumors

The Game Awards 2018 revealed many surprises, including the Crash Team Racing Remake and the new Obsidian RPG The Outer Worlds. Towards the end of the night, Nintendo had one last surprise in store in the form of a new addition to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster. Nintendo revealed that Joker from Persona 5 is coming to the game as the first of five post-launch DLC characters. Check out the reveal trailer below:

Here’s the description of Joker from the Fandom page:

The protagonist of Persona 5 is a transfer student at Shujin Academy. At the beginning of the game, he has little to no power or influence in the world and is restrained by the rules of the system he was born into.

However, beneath his quiet demeanor is a strong-willed juvenile delinquent known throughout the world as The Phantom, to the residents of the Velvet Room he is known as the Trickster, and to his teammates his code name is Joker. The protagonist is the leader of the rebellious Phantom Thieves of Hearts which aims to change society by touching the hearts of people and performing illegal heists.”

There is currently no word on when Joker is expected to arrive, though we do know that the DLC will also include a Persona-themed stage, as well as new music from Persona 5. According to Nintendo, each Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC pack will cost $5.99, though players can save some money by purchasing the Fighter’s Pack for $24.99.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches for the Nintendo Switch on December 7, 2018.
