Street Fighter Board Game Crushes Kickstarter Goal In One Day (VIDEO)
Not many would think that the Street Fighter franchise could perform well in a tabletop setting, but Jasco Games seems adamant about proving that idea wrong. Just after setting up their Kickstarter campaign for the Street Fighter board game, the goal of $400,000 was destroyed within one day. With it only being five days into the campaign, it has raised over $750,000, and it continues to grow.
The basic pledge is set at $80, and it will get supporters the core Street Fighter: The Miniatures Game. Fighters included with the core set are Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken, Zangief, Sagat, and Vega. Different stages will also be coming with the base game, giving players various arenas to do battle. For those looking to add a bit more to their gameplay options, the other pledges and rewards can be seen below:
- $140 or more
- Street Fighter: The Miniatures Game
- Boss Expansion (M.Bison and Akuma)
- All Unlocked Stretch Goals! (with additional Fighters & Decks!)
- $280 or more
- Street Fighter: The Miniatures Game
- Boss Expansion (M.Bison and Akuma)
- Street Fighter Alpha Character Expansion
- Street Fighter III Character Expansion
- Street Fighter IV Character Expansion
- Street Fighter V Character Expansion
- All Unlocked Stretch Goals! (with additional Fighters & Decks!)
All of the figurines that come with the game are sized a little bit larger than regular miniatures. This is with collectors in mind because they’ll feature some rather incredible detail, plus they range from “65mm tall all the way up to 85mm tall.” Here’s a bit more about the small collectors items, including a sweet video:
- The miniatures are more like small collectable statues and makes them great for displaying around the house even if you don’t play the game at all!
- The larger the mini the better the pre-paint process, our pre-painted miniatures are simply the best the industry can currently offer, rivalling that of action figures and full sized collector statues!
- Playing with larger miniatures on a board with 3D terrain gives amazing table presence when you pull this game out at any gathering! You’ll be the talk of the town!
- We believe its quality over quantity, why have buckets of tiny miniatures if they don’t get played packed away in expansion box after expansion box? These miniatures will get a lot of table time as your sole representation on the battlefield!
Stretch goals are in place to unlock even more glorious content for the game. So far, Guile, Blanka, and E. Honda miniatures have all been unlocked as well as a few game upgrades. As for the core game, the set also includes 3D destructible terrain for players to kick and punch others into. Needless to say, taking Street Fighter to the tops of tables looks like an absolute blast!
The Street Fighter board game is set to be delivered in March 2019. If you’re looking to pick the tabletop title up for yourself, or even learn more about it, the Kickstarter campaign can be found right here. At the time of writing, it has 25 days left, so hurry up and pledge away!
