Street Fighter 6 Roster Leak Acknowledged By Capcom
In this age of the gaming industry, as social media has become a go-to sector for gaming companies to market their games, it has proven to also be a double-edged sword with detracting elements. With talented leakers gaining more clever sleuthing skills by the day, gaming publishers often find their big upcoming announcements undercut by leaks. Such was the case recently with Capcom’s reveal of new information about Street Fighter 6, with a leak of the supposed Street Fighter 6 roster coming shortly after. Now, it seems that Capcom has acknowledged the leak, giving some credence to its accuracy of the game’s roster.
This particular story begins with artwork of fighters in the Street Fighter 6 roster leaking online through sites like Reddit and social media platforms like Twitter. The leaked images show the look, name and nation of origin for each fighter, with most of the roster being fighters seen in previous Street Fighter games, including the already confirmed Ryu and Chun-Li. The images also include new characters, including Luke and Jamie who had already been seen in the new trailer, as well as new fighters like Marisa the gladiator from Italy and Mimi the French fighter. These images seemed to be quite possibly true as a roster for the game, but with no official reveal by Capcom, many had taken these leaks with some skepticism.
As residents of Metro City, we’ve all seen things we weren’t supposed to see, but we’re all in this together. We appreciate all the positive reactions. Thank you for the support!

However, in what is somewhat a rare move for a game publisher, Capcom chose to acknowledge the Street Fighter 6 roster leaks, albeit in an indirect way. A tweet from Capcom on the official Street Fighter Twitter account makes an obvious acknowledgement of the leaks, even though the tweet does not specifically mention the roster being the subject. The tweet reads “As residents of Metro City, we’ve all seen things we weren’t supposed to see, but we’re all in this together.” The tweet connects the leak with the central new Metro City location in the new game, as well as the positive reactions people have had to the roster and new character leaks. It’s nice to see a big publisher take unexpected turns like this in stride, and hopefully this vulnerability works in their favor. You had me at Hadouken, Capcom.
