Steam Chat Receives Dedicated App For Android, iOS

Valve appears to have finally thrown its hat into the ring with regards to mobile communication. Previously, those that wanted to chat with their Steam friends using the mobile app had to navigate the clunky, slow UI, admittedly a turn off for those looking to quickly fire off messages on the go. Now, Valve has released a separate Steam Chat app that appears to be more than worthy of a download.

Valve made the announcement over on its blog, detailing what downloaders can expect from the new app. According to the post, the new Steam Chat mobile app represents a more modernized experience that includes “many key features of the Steam Client desktop chat.” Here are some of the features courtesy of Steam:

  • Friends List – See who’s in game or online at a glance. Never miss an opportunity to play.
  • Rich Chat – Your chats get even better with higher fidelity links, videos, tweets, GIFs, Giphy, Steam emoticons, and more.
  • Invite Links – Add new friends on Steam with a link. Generate an invite link you can text or email.
  • Customizable Notifications – Mobile notifications mean you’ll never miss a message or game invite. You can customize your notifications per friend, group chat, and chat channel.
  • Group Chats – Get everyone on the same page. Groups make it easier to do things like stay in touch with your communities and organize game night with your best friends.

Those looking to check out the new app can do so now for free on Android and iOS devices.
