Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic II Coming To Switch (VIDEO)
The yearly proceedings of Star Wars Celebration were in full swing this week bringing some high-energy reveals for the latest in live-action, comics, and video games set in the galaxy far, far, away. We notably got the first trailer for the long-awaited Rogue One prequel series Andor and an announced sequel to the modern classic Jedi Fallen Order, called Jedi Survivor. If that wasn’t enough, the video game side boasted that much more with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords confirmed for release on Nintendo Switch.
Set to release June 8th, the Anaheim-held event heralded the classic Obsidian-developed RPG coming to Big N’s hybrid console, with it underway by the developers Aspyr and Lucasfilm Games. While containing the same galaxy-spanning odyssey that fans remember, the port will also bring “resolution updates, performance optimizations, and The Sith Lords Restored Content DLC coming post-launch,” according to an official statement from Michael Blair, senior director of Business Development at Aspyr.
While not held in the same regard as the first BioWare-developed Knights of the Old Republic, The Sith Lords is still looked back on as a classic among franchise fans for its depth and incredible Light-vs.-Dark Side storytelling. The title’s newfound availability on Switch is also fitting following the original game’s release for the platform last November, launching alongside other ports from the era such as the Jedi Knight games, Rogue Squadron, and Star Wars Racer.
Of course, one can’t mention Knights of the Old Republic without the upcoming remake for PS5, which is also underway by the wizards at Aspyr. Announced late last year, the game is positioned as a ground-up rebuild of the classic RPG that aims to overhaul its decades-old visuals while honoring the story and feel of the original. Multiple devs from the first game, including voice actress Jennifer Hale, are confirmed to be coming back for the remake.
