Star Wars “Hyper-Reality Experience” Coming to Disney Theme Parks
The theme parks under Disney’s control are going through some major changes. New Marvel expansions are coming to Disneyland and California Adventure theme park. Disney is currently working on a Westworld-esque Star Wars resort, unfortunately that may be a some time in the future before fans are able to enjoy that kind of experience. For those with less patience, there is a new Star Wars “hyper-reality experience” coming to Disneyland and Disneyworld later this year.
The Star Wars VR experience is called Secrets of the Empire and will be crafted by LucasFilms ILMxLAB with the help of The Void. The latter of the two has already worked on projects which go beyond virtual-reality, bringing elements such as smells and haptic feedback to bring a more full experience. The Void worked in conjunction with Sony Pictures last year on a project called Ghostbusters: Dimensions which was a similar.
Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire will plunge guests directly into the iconic Star Wars galaxy. They will move freely throughout the untethered, social, and multi-sensory Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire experience in a way that allows them to interact and engage with friends, family and Star Wars characters. This ground-breaking experience will open to the public at two new VOID Experience Centers at Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort and Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort beginning this holiday season.”
The attraction is set to appear at two new Void experience centers at both Disneyland and Disneyworld. The attractions hope to bring fans a multi-sensory Star Wars hyper-reality experience like never before.
