Star Wars EA Announcements Not Happening Until Next Year
The summer has seen the major video game outlets continue the trend of hosting significant digital presentations that preview upcoming games and announce new projects. PlayStation recently held their Summer State of Play presentation, and E3 2021 hosted the likes of Xbox, Nintendo and more. EA has confirmed that they will be hosting a new EA Play direct event soon, with many hoping to see major announcements of their biggest franchises. Some have hoped that some new Star Wars EA games might get announced during the big presentation next week. However, a new update from EA will have some fans disappointed, and not just for the short term.
We won’t be showing any new Star Wars games at EA Play Live on July 22nd…but all of us look forward to celebrating with you next year when we share our vision for the Galaxy far, far away!

EA recently made a statement ahead of the EA Play 2021 showcase happening next week about their Star Wars EA projects on their official Star Wars EA Twitter account. The tweet confirms that there will not be any new Star Wars game announcements made during the presentation next week. Not only that, but the tweet also states that the next Star Wars game announcements are set to be made next year at the earliest, counting out any new projects being confirmed this year.
There have not yet been official reveals from EA in regards to which Star Wars games are in the works at their various studios. The big title that previous statements and rumors point to being in the works are a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. There’s also been reports indicating that a remake of Knights of the Old Republic and a game based on The Mandalorian could also be in development. Whatever Star Wars EA end up coming next, 2022 will hopefully bring their existence into the light. Let’s just see if we finally get a Watto-focused first person shooter at long last.
