Spider-Man PS4 Breaks Down Pivotal Action Scene (VIDEO)

Spider-Man PS4 Action Sequence Breakdown

Insomniac Games is bringing the comic world of Spider-Man to the gaming landscape in just a few days time, and what we’ve seen so far has only encouraged the it as one of the more exciting entries in the hero’s history. A big piece of that hype is the loving adherence to source material in effort to flesh out the game’s open world, characters, as well as its cinematic scenes. A new video has been now been released, breaking down this thoughtful approach behind crafting a pivotal action sequence in Spider-Man PS4.

Building a scene of this kind is explained as rooted in the comics, with many particular moments featuring recreations of fantastical comic panels. Utilizing the storyboard process of previsualization, the main layout of a scene arranged, albeit missing any basic visual polish of the final product. It’s here where motion capture comes in to implement lifelike human movement such as acrobatic fight choreography and other nuanced interactions. The whole sequence comes together in the introduction of dynamic textures, lighting, and effects, adding a sense of emotion and immersion a game like Spider-Man PS4 requires. Check out the whole breakdown in the video below.

With how much work goes into crafting action scenes alone, it’s undeniable how challenging the full scope of the game’s development must have been. With ample detail put into the game’s reference-filled world, insane combat, and epic array of villains, there’s a very likely chance all that hard work will pay off big for Insomniac. Of course, we’ll only know for sure when Spider-Man releases for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro on September 7th.
