Dream Daddy Just Got Daddier With Newly Revealed Comic Series

Please, it’s more like dream zaddy. Evolving from video game heaven, the hit indie title Dream Daddy from Game Grumps becomes a comic series. The bright colors, entirely awesome premise and dating simulator hits the shelves in a new medium. This brings more accessibility for those not into video games or simply can’t afford to, or fans that want to add to their collection.

For those who don’t know, Dream Daddy is a visual novel and dating simulator that plunges your custom created dad into a world of several other single fathers. With a total of 7 to choose from, traverse the fictional world of Maple Bay and get well-acquainted with the cast of original characters, romance them and get to know their family dynamics too. Now thanks to publisher Oni Press, the popular game is now a comic series.

With the first issue now live, creators shed light on this new venture, revealing their ambitions for the series. Leight Gray and Vernon Shaw wanted to introduce other characters and stories into the Dream Daddy universe, ones they couldn’t realize in the game. Speaking to Paste, Shaw states:

There are so many more stories we wanted to explore in the DDADDS universe. And Oni is giving us this amazing new outlet to tell them. Hope everyone likes Dad jokes!”

Adding to that, co-creator Leighton Grey added:

It’s always been a dream of mine to work on a comic book series. I couldn’t be happier that we got to make all these cool new Dad stories with such cool people!”

The series will have several different hands involved in the writing and illustration with and print cover artist Kris Anka. There’s even two variant covers to choose from (see below). As of right now, there are currently 5 total issues planned and respectively titled: Much Abird About Nothing, Let The Right Dad In, Dream Ad-y, Fair Deal, and Dungeons and Daddies. They’re essentially perfect titles.

Folks attending PAX West this weekend can purchase the printed copies of the first issue during the event at booth number 6305. Digital versions of the comic can be purchased from several online retailers including Amazon, Steam, ComiXology, iTunes, and Google Play. Physical issues are available via Oni Press’s online shop here.
