Spider-Man Prequel Novel Will Explore The Story Before The PS4 Game
2018 is shaping up to be quite a year for everybody’s favorite wall-crawler. Spider-Man will soon be seen on the big screen in The Avengers: Infinity War, and the Insomniac Games-developed Spider-Man PS4 title will be released. Excitement has been especially rising recently, with the confirmation of the PS4 game’s September release date. Now, it appears that the new game has inspired other fanfare as well. Titan Books has announced that they will be publishing two new Spider-Man books, one of which will be a Spider-Man prequel novel that sets up the story told in the game.
The announcement of the new Titan Books titles being published in partnership with Marvel and Insomniac Games was recently shared exclusively on Polygon. The announcement shares that the Spider-Man prequel novel will be titled Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover, and it will be written by author David Liss. The novel will reportedly include many familiar Spider-Man characters, including “the Shocker, Echo, the Blood Spider, J. Jonah Jameson, Mary Jane Watson, and Wilson Fisk – the Kingpin.” The story will present “Kingpin’s plan to gain an iron grip on New York City” which very much lines up with the villain’s significant presence seen and heard in footage of the PS4 game so far. The novel is set to release on August 21, 2018, giving fans ample time to finish the novel before the game launches in September.
Titan Books will also continue their tradition of publishing game art books for the new Spider-Man game. Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Art of the Game, by Paul Davies promises that “fans will learn about every facet of the game, from the initial designs, blueprints, and the breathtaking final concepts.” This book will be available for purchase on the 11th of September. These books certainly sound promising, and are sure to heighten the experiences fans have with this new take on Peter Parker’s world. Now, if only Bruce Campbell was confirmed to narrate the new game. What do you guys think about the new Spider-Man prequel novel and art book? Let us know in the comments below!
