Scientifically Accurate Dinosaur Collectible Figures Coming Soon!
The release of Jurassic Park saw an era in which many young children became obsessed with dinosaurs and dinosaur-related items. The recent return of the Jurassic franchise has led to another increase in the highly popular dino-genre which in turn led to a influx of dinosaur-related toys marketed towards children. Yet there are very few collector-quality dinosaur collectible figures out there which led to famed toy sculptor David Silva deciding to create his own.
His recently announced Beasts of the Mesozoic: Raptor Series features 17 different designs of scientifically accurate dinosaurs from the raptor family such as the Velociraptor, Tsaagan, and Atrociraptor with incredible detail and pose-able parts. The figures in the Raptor series are 1/6th scale and designed to be paired next to 12 inch human figures for scientific accuracy. Fans can currently purchase two unpainted Build-a-Raptor sets, accessory kits, and Nestlings while the Premium Raptors will arrive in two waves beginning in March.
According to a Kickstarter update, there were multiple delays which plagued the development process, Silva explained that while it can be frustrating – the wait will be well worth it:
I apologize for my part in this delay, but I felt it best to wait a little longer and allow the factory to give us their best effort instead of putting undue pressure on them and receiving just ‘acceptable’ figures that were likely rushed. In this case, as throughout this project, quality has priority over time.”
Silva plans to continue creating even more dinosaurs with Beasts of the Mesozoic, including Certopsians, in the near future. Are you excited to see these incredible figures arrive?
