Relive The Joy Of Tech Decks With Skapp, A Skateboarding Game Played With Your Phone (VIDEO)

Skapp

Whether you were a child, parent, or anyone in between during the late 90’s, there is a good chance you may have seen, heard of, or played with Tech Decks. The miniature skateboards provided fans plenty of opportunity to shred things up with their fingers, and it looks like a new video game by the name of Skapp is attempting to capture some of that same magic.

The developers at Bound Games have taken their idea to Kickstarter in hopes of getting Skapp out to the public. The title allows players to use their mobile phones as the skateboard, with gameplay being sent to either a PC or PlayStation 4 console at this time. Want to perform a kickflip? Simply flip your phone. See a rail that looks awfully grindable? Bust out an ollie and guide your onscreen skateboard onto the rail. Using the gyroscope and accelerometer in the phone, the game is able to offer up a seemingly great experience, especially for those who enjoyed playing with Tech Decks once upon a time.

For those looking to learn a bit more about Skapp and what the experience has to offer, here’s part of the official description:

“Skapp brings the latest innovation to the skateboarding genre by using the gyroscope and accelerometer of our smartphones and our gamepad to bring the wildest skateboarding tricks to the palm of your hand! Delve into the Skapp Universe and learn about the secret behind the mystery that lead to all hands revolting and leaving their owners. Perform tricks and grind your way through a compelling story mode or live out your skate dreams for hours in free roam mode!”

Skapp also features a plethora of challenges, missions, and more for players to enjoy as they flip their phones all around. As of the time of this writing, the Kickstarter project is sitting at $3,090 (€2,602.43) out of $17,811 (€25,000) pledged, with 17 days left on the campaign. According to the Kickstarter page, the devs are planning to release Skapp for PlayStation 4 in spring 2021, with a PC version arriving later in the fall. It is also noted that Nintendo Switch and Xbox One versions are “upcoming platforms.” Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
