Rumor: New Xbox Scarlett Details and Specs Leaked (VIDEO)

Xbox Scarlett

While the current generation of consoles is quite impressive, new details have arrived from a source known for leaking Xbox information ahead of time that shows off the power of the next generation codenamed Xbox Scarlett.

According to Thurrott‘s Brad Sams, Microsoft is still aiming for the next generation to arrive sometime in 2020 and competes with the release of the upcoming PlayStation 5. Unfortunately however, Sams does not reveal when exactly Microsoft plans to reveal their next generation console, but if it does in fact release in 2020 then it would be safe to assume that the console will be revealed sometime in 2019. Similar to reports that Microsoft is getting ready to release a disc-less Xbox One X console, it appears that the next generation console will launch with both a disc version and a non-disc version at a lower price.

Sams also mentions something called “digital attach”, a new way for players to purchase digital products from the company. When a player decides to purchase an Xbox Scarlett they’ll be able to customise their purchase with the addition of products such as the Xbox Game Pass or different subscriptions of Xbox Live that will be ready from the get-go.

As for the guts of the system, the Scarlett will supposedly be based upon AMD’s Zen 2 tech. Considering Xbox’s long standing history with the company it’s no surprise, and Sams states that the system will utitlise AMD’s yet-to-be reveled next-gen GPU tech. The goal of the console will be to provide gamers with a 4k experience at a natural 60 FPS.

As this is a rumor, it’s important to take the information with a grain of salt. Sams does have a history of leaking information like this, but that doesn’t mean anything is set in stone.
