Live-Action Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Reveals First Footage

Video game movies are arriving with incredible frequency these days, with the likes of Uncharted, Super Mario, and even Tetris having full feature films in the works. One of the more high-profile adaptations headed to the big screen is Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which is set to bring a number of big stars along for the faced-paced proceedings.

While fans of the character’s anticipated live-action outing have been deprived of footage thus far, the lucky attendees of Brazil’s Comic Con Experience (CCXP) were recently treated to the first footage of Sonic’s cinematic debut. While the video itself unfortunately remains exclusive to the event, a small description of what was shown off has now made its way online by way of Collider. According to the outlet:

While the footage was very short, it showed Sonic on a highway and then quickly running off screen. It’s clear the footage was nothing more than reminding people who Sonic is and that he has a movie coming soon.”

The report goes on to describe a remaining section of the clip which depicts an ending title card bearing the name “Sonic,” suggesting this may end up being the movie’s official title. Now, the one-word title hasn’t been confirmed by Paramount as of yet, as it could just be a placeholder or perhaps even a localized version of the title intended for Brazilian audiences. However, the simply-put naming scheme could be a good way to go considering the hedgehog’s worldwide name recognition.

While this unseen footage doesn’t seem to be very revealing, actually catching a look at the big-screen blue blur on was likely the purpose of Sonic’s presence the event. However, it’s not as though director Jeff Fowler’s Sonic movie has been completely left under wraps, as a number of interesting details have already come forth such as the hedgehog’s characterization and Jim Carrey’s involvement with the project.

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie is scheduled to hit theaters on November 8th, 2019.
