Death Stranding: Normas Reedus Gives Release Date Predictions

Death Stranding

In true Kojima fashion, Death Stranding continues to remain shrouded in quite a bit of mystery. While there have been some details that have arrived thanks to trailers and even some voice actors who continue to hint at what fans might expect, many of the most important details have been kept hidden. Thanks to a recent hint from actor Norman Reedus, it seems at the the release date may have finally been unraveled – sort of..

While speaking in a recent podcast, Reedus mentions that he believes the title will release early next year. When asked when the game would debut, he replied “I think it’s [Death Stranding] gonna be early this coming year, I have three more [mocap] sessions here in New York starting next week.”

With the actor’s work with motion capture wrapping up soon it could indicate the impending arrival of the title. Actor Troy Baker also mentioned having finished his work on the project last month. If others  are finishing up as well, it’s entirely possible that the game really will see an early 2019 release.

As an added bonus, a later part of the podcast sees Reedus delve into his character and how characters will interact with each other within the game. It appears that the title won’t be straightforward, placing an emphasis on making a wide variety of choices that will affect the gameplay over time.

It’s not the kinda game where you kill everybody in the room. It’s a game of bringing people together. How you play it, is you’re building bridges from here to there, and other people are doing the same, and you connect, and the character that I play is, he’s got this phobia of being touched, and as you play the game the phobia leaves you. It’s complicated but once you’re in it, it doesn’t seem as complicated. It’s constantly surprising you with decisions left and right, and what comes at you, and it’s a real brave game. It’s visually stunning, and the story behind it, it’s a whole ‘nother level, y’know. It’s not Pac-Man, it’s not simple, but the philosophy behind it is one that everybody can get.”

Currently it seems that Death Stranding will only be available for the PlayStation 4 and no official release date has been decided. The title is set to feature quite an impressive cast of characters including voices from Norman Reedus, Mads Mikklesen, Troy Baker, Stefanie Joosten, and more.
