Rocket League Outline For 2018 Indicates A Focus On Online Improvements

Rocket League Outline

Rocket League first appeared back in 2015 as an arcade soccer-like game featuring rocket powered cars. Now almost 3 years later, the title has gained a massive player base and an impressive amount of customization opportunities for vehicles in the game. As successful and popular as the game has become, it’s no surprise that there are issues within the online areas of the title. Thankfully as it prepares to enter 2018, Psyonix has released a Rocket League outline detailing some major improvements on the way such as servers and connectivity issues.

The first of issues being tackled in 2018 is the game’s server preformance. It’s a known issue that players have given feedback on regularly. While some server issues are out of the developer’s hands, the team is constantly monitoring their state and searching for solutions to help improve their overall performance. In addition to this, Psyonix will be adding connection status information for the players to utilize such as packet loss, latency variance, or legitimate server performance issues.

The second major focus of the outline is to shape up the game’s performance on the Xbox One. There have been multiple patches working to correct the issues reported on the Xbox side but there are still some issues which the developers hope to correct. Various other changes are coming including the implementation of the revamped Rocket League party system.

The servers may still run into some issues, but it’s good to see the developers are focused on improving them especially with the recent introduction of cross-play capabilities and Nintendo Switch port. The game will also see some improvements to the progression system among various other quality of life upgrades and plenty of fresh new content for players to acquire.
