Rick and Morty Dungeons & Dragons Crossover Comic Announced

Morty Dungeons

Sadly, it will still be quite a while before Rick & Morty fans will see more animated adventures from their favorite duo. In the meantime, this beloved universe has other media outside of the main series to keep fans occupied. The Rick and Morty Virtual Rick-ality game just released for PlayStation 4, and comic series based on the show has been ongoing for a while. Now, it seems that the comic sector of the franchise will interact with a favorite nerd pastime. A new Rick & Morty Dungeons & Dragons crossover comic series has been announced.

IDW comics has announced the new Rick & Morty Dungeons & Dragons crossover comic series on their official website. IDW revealed their new project being made in partnership with Oni Press at the recent C2E2 convention. Patrick Rothfuss and Jim Zub have been recruited to write the new series, while Eisner-nominated artist Troy Little will illustrate. The story will have Morty wanting to learn about Dungeons & Dragons from Rick, after the classic tabletop game suddenly becomes popular at his school. In true series fashion, Rick brings Morty and the Smith family into an alternate dimension where Dungeons & Dragons is perhaps too real for comfort.

The first official image for the crossover shows Rick holding a standard D&D 20-sided die, as he and  Morty run from a Beholder. While this isn’t the first crossover Rick & Morty has participated in, it is perhaps the most prolific reference to D&D seen in their franchise, which will add to the frequent presence of the game among co-creator Dan Harmon’s projects. Hopefully, this comic is a critical hit and adds to the demand for season 4 of Rick and Morty to arrive sooner. What do you guys think about this Rick and Morty Dungeons & Dragons crossover comic?
