Respawn CEO Vince Zampella Taking Over New DICE LA Studio

Respawn Vince Zampella

Respawn Entertainment has made quite a lot of big moves lately with Vince Zampella as the company’s head. From the surprise release of Apex Legends to the single-player adventure of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the developers have absolutely crushed 2019. Now, it seems that Respawn will have to go on without him going forward, as Zampella is now set to take over a new studio in DICE LA.

According to LA Times (via Prima Games), not only will Vince Zampella be taking over DICE LA, but he’ll also be key in bringing a total overhaul of the studio to fruition. The team is set to focus on past franchises and revisit them in some capacity–including a fresh title that has yet to be revealed. Of the rebranded DICE studio, Zampella said, “We want to give it a new image. We want people to say, ‘This is a destination you can go and make new content.’”

As of now, there has been no official word about who will fill Vince Zampella’s role Respawn CEO. However, the team looks to already have a solid foundation of leadership in mind for the meantime. Stig Asmussen will continue to lead the crew on the narrative adventure front, Chad Grenier will oversee the battle royale side of things, and Peter Hirschmann is leading the studio’s venture into VR with Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond VR.

So far, there hasn’t been any information given about a lot concerning the rebranded DICE LA studio, though the team will have the goal of becoming a fresh and unique studio. With Zampella at the helm, the studio looks to be in good hands. Let us know your thoughts on Zampella taking over DICE LA and more in the comments section below.
