Respawn Entertainment Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary With New Studio

Respawn Entertainment

It’s been a whole decade since Respawn Entertainment was formed, and the company has come quite a long way. From Titanfall to Apex Legends to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the company has seen quite a bit of success over the years. Now that Respawn is on its 10-year anniversary, the company is celebrating its success by opening a new studio to continue the team’s growth.

While the developers had planned out for Apex Legends’ success, nobody ever could have imagined just how large the title would grow as time has gone on. Now it sits as one of the best free-to-play Battle Royale titles out there for players. In a recent interview, head of operations Henry Lee, team director Steven Ferreira, Apex Legends game director Chad Grenier, and Respawn COO Dusty Welch open up about their plans to open up a new studio dedicated to continuing to work on Apex Legends. “This is a great opportunity,” Lee began.

Not just for the Vancouver studio to bring some new creative challenges to people already there, but also to the local industry in terms of being part of the Apex Legends roadmap. So we’re very excited about bringing this to Vancouver and hopefully greater Canada as well, because we can tap into much more of a talent base broadly.”

Not only will the new studio help give Apex legends the attention it needs to grow over time, but it also leaves the rest of Respawn Entertainment to continue working on various other projects such as the sequel for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order that was teased earlier this year. There was no mention in the interview just what the developer has planned for the future, but fans can still dream about the possibilities. Who knows, though the developer has said in the past that Titanfall 3 isn’t currently in development perhaps the new studio will make some room to continue the franchise.
