Resident Evil Village Castle Dimitrescu Demo Details Revealed (VIDEO)

Resident Evil Village Castle Dimitrescu

The next entry in Capcom’s long-running Resident Evil series is nearly upon us, but developers are scaring up a number of playable demos to treat fans in the few days leading up to release. While each limited-time experience is assured to eventually go multiplatform, PlayStation has once again scored first-dibs, with the latest demo set to arrive very soon at the time of writing. Set in the gorgeously haunting Castle Dimitrescu, the demo debut is set to introduce all-new gameplay to players, some of which recently detailed by a new post from Capcom.

RE series producer Tsuyoshi Kanda recently took to the PlayStation Blog to inform players on what to expect in the new Castle Dimitrescu demo, which is confirmed to be home to the internet’s be-lusted “tall vampire lady” Alcina Dimitrescu and her three “bloodthirsty daughters.” In addition to the reveal of a spiffy trailer (seen above), Kanda also provided insight into the setting’s “regal interior” and how it differed from previous demos as well as the series’ prior entry of Resident Evil 7.

”In Resident Evil 7 biohazard, our main focus was creating something claustrophobic with a lot of depth. With Resident Evil Village, we wanted to use what we learned as a foundation to build upon and create something expansive with more variety.”

“The juxtaposition within Castle Dimitrescu, between the well-lit halls of the upper floors and the cold dark chambers down below, is just a small example of the different kinds of environment Ethan Winters will find himself in as he desperately searches for his daughter Rose,” he explained. “Not only will he find himself in a wider variety of environments this time around, but he’ll also have a bigger arsenal of weaponry at his disposal as well. It’s all up to you to strategize and figure out what works best in every new environment and situation that you find yourself in.”

For those interested in witnessing Lady Dimitrescu and her castle in all their towering glory, the new demo is now available to pre-download and set to go live for PS4 and PS5 owners on April 24th (5 pm PT / 7 pm CT / 8 pm ET). The 30-minute demo will only be available to play for an 8-hour period, after which access will be immediately severed, so it might be best to pre-prepare while you can. Players on other platforms will be able to participate in the horrific fun on May 1st when a multi-platform demo goes live for all available systems.

Resident Evil Village is confirmed to release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on May 7th.
