Resident Evil 8 Leak Suggests Medieval Werewolves and Zombies (VIDEO)
The past few years have seen a revival of sorts for the Resident Evil franchise, bringing its most beloved aspects back into the spotlight. After several action-focused games, the series saw a return to survival horror form in Resident Evil 7 and a literal return with the Resident Evil 2 remake last year. Lately, rumors have circulated about a hypothetical Resident Evil 8 in development and the various aspects of what it might entail. Capcom notably committed to a particular uniform aesthetic for RE7 and now a new Resident Evil 8 leak suggests that a similar pattern might follow, but with a medieval twist.
German gaming outlet GAMEZ.de uploaded a new video on its official YouTube channel, detailing claims from recent Resident Evil 8 leaks. According to the sources, Resident Evil 8 takes place in a castle smaller than the one from Resident Evil 4 and features medieval-themed enemies such as werewolves, armored zombie knights, and witches. Another significant detail revealed that Ethan from Resident Evil 7 will return as the protagonist alongside the previously teased Chris Redfield, albeit “with a twist.” RE8 was also suggested to be more action-focused than RE7, but will likely hold the survival horror elements from recent games. Other details from the video include:
- the rumor that the game had been scrapped and development started over (several times) is wrong
- discussions about the logo design and if the game has an “8” in the title are useless at this point since things can still change a lot
- release is maybe in 1.5 – 2 years
- setting: Eastern Europe or an adjacent country to that area
- village & a snowy landscape
Adding fuel to the fire, similar information had also come forward by way of ChaoticClaire and AestheticGamer on Twitter. Both of these Twitter users have been known to leak information about games in the past and recently felt confident sharing in this Resident Evil 8 leak. Along with several other details, a source with ChaoticClaire corroborated that Chris and Ethan would feature in the game with witches and werewolf-type enemies. Noted insider AestheticGamer signed off on the new information but asserted that it may be from an old version of the project or very possibly from an entirely unrelated game.
– tracker/pursuer enemy with a witch like design, similar to Evil Within
– hallucinations related to her
– not sure yet if it will have 8 in the title
– game is described to be “creative”
– DNA strand sketches, might form the 8 symbol
– original director isn’t involved anymore— ChaoticClaire ??? (@ClaireChaotic) January 29, 2020
(1/3) I believe your source with everything. This actually fits also perfectly with some… opinions I knew of the original RE8 director, and makes more sense to me of how this version came so far along. One thing I’ll mention though is from what I know, RE8 shifted its direction

(3/3) to manifest in some form due to the connections it has with another game. I will say seeing everything coming out has been very interesting, even if I’m going against the grain in saying that the Werewolf/Witch game won’t be RE8.

While this Resident Evil 8 leak should be taken with some healthy skepticism, these details all sound fairly plausible and not entirely out of character for what Resident Evil could be. A medieval-themed Resident Evil would be a bold direction for the series, and as a wise man once said: “To understand the future, we have to go back in time.” Dale!
