Resident Evil 3 Demo Drops This Week, RE: Resistance Beta Revealed (VIDEO)
In less than a month, Capcom is set to unleash the latest in the publisher’s recent string of Resident Evil releases: the Resident Evil 3 remake. More than just a simple remaster, the game has looked to bring much more modern and engrossing features to the party, with a cinematic story, stunning visuals, and updated gameplay that looks to offer plenty of genuine scares for both new and old-school fans. In celebration of this approaching release, Capcom has now confirmed a playable Resident Evil 3 demo will release later this week.
In a post to the Capcom blog (H/T Prima Games), the demo was confirmed to become available starting on March 19th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Described as “a slice of the full game,” the section is said to see players “step into the shoes of Jill Valentine as she attempts to make a desperate escape from Raccoon City as it rapidly descends into chaos.” In addition, the blog also extends a suggestion to Resident Evil 3 demo players, acknowledging the game’s more action-oriented gameplay, but nonetheless advising to “conserve your ammo and items if you want to stand a chance of surviving.”
Alongside the new RE3 demo, Capcom lastly unveiled a new open beta session for the game’s multiplayer component, Resident Evil Resistance. Fans will also get to try out the asymmetrical co-op title this month starting March 27th, where four players premised to “take on the role of a Survivor” and try to “escape from a twisted experiment designed to push them to their limits.” Of course, one person can also “take control as a Mastermind, watching the Survivors progress through cameras as you attempt to thwart their escape by placing traps and creatures while manipulating the environment to your advantage.”
As the world deals with its own real-world contagion at the moment, Capcom’s duo of demo announcements is an example of some pretty well-placed timing on their part. As many are forced to stay home during this exceedingly viral time, gamers are likely looking for all they can get when it comes to escaping the clutches of boredom and this sliver of RE3 is likely just what the doctor ordered – Dr. Albert Wesker, that is!
