New Resident Evil 2 Gameplay Shows Terrifying Licker Battle (VIDEO)

Resident Evil 2

The new remake for Resident Evil 2 continues to show off its astounding, updated visuals. Capcom will be revisiting one of the most beloved chapters in their horror franchise and fans could not be happier to see the progress made so far.  We’ve already seen the amazing new damage modeling and a few iconic scenes retouched with stunning modern graphics technology, but now we get to see one of the most iconic enemies from the game, the Lickers. Capcom released a new trailer on their official Resident Evil YouTube channel and boy does it look fantastically horrifying.

The blind quadrupedal frog zombies are one of the most memorable enemy types from the Resident Evil franchise, and their recreation here is detailed to the point of being straight up unsettling. The brain that dominates the entire head, the long veiny tongue, the skinless muscle tissue with bone plate sticking out of certain sections – all of it looks incredible. As with the other games Lickers have appeared in, players will be able to avoid them if they avoid making noise like running or shooting.

As you can see, Claire Redfield will be a bit more dynamic in how she’s able to take out the Lickers this time around. She gets jumped by one of them and sticks a knife in their neck, setting them up for a couple of shots to the head. Well…brain. Another one jumps on her and she shoves a goddamn grenade into its mouth. That kind of savagery wasn’t possible back in 1998, but man it’s awesome to see here.

Resident Evil 2 will be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on January 25th, 2019, so we won’t have to wait too long to shoot up, or shove grenades in, more zombies.
