Resident Evil 2: The Ghost Survivors Mode Announced

Resident Evil 2

We are only a couple days away from the highly-anticipated release of Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake, and fans couldn’t possibly be more excited. After running through the rather short 1-shot demo, many crave the entirety of the experience that lies ahead.

That said, while Capcom is doing their best to remain faithful to the original title from 1998, they are implementing a handful of fresh ideas to give the game more playability. One way they will be going about this is the addition of other game modes, including the recently announced The Ghost Survivors.

According to a post on ResetERA, Capcom revealed a few details about the free post-launch game mode. This will allow players to take on the role of other character. So far, it’s confirmed that Robert Kendo, a USS member, and Katherine will be available, but the likes of Leon and Claire are not known to be included in the mode.

While not much is known about the game mode at this time, it sounds to be a lot like the Extreme Battle mode from the original game. There will be “randomized elements” as well as “an in-game shop,” according to the post. They also note that there won’t be microtransactions, as items in the shop will be purchasable through points earned via “performing well.”

It was also mentioned that the mode will be introduced through three volumes over time and might have “a loose “alternate reality” story mode and randmoized rogue-like mode.” The first installment is confirmed to contain an unknown enemy as well.

Unfortunately, we don’t know when The Ghost Survivors will arrive, but Resident Evil 2 itself is set to launch on January 25th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
