Cyberpunk 2077 Has A Large Variety Of Weapons That Includes Katanas

Cyberpunk 2077

With 2019 having officially arrived, many gamers are wondering if this is the year we’ll learn the launch date for CD Projekt RED’s highly-anticipated futuristic RPG. There’s no denying the hype for Cyberpunk 2077, but with no concrete release window in sight, we must take all of the information we can get our hands on.

Luckily, the developers are being more open about the creation of the title than they have in the past. In a recent interview with Jeuxactu, lead cinematic animator Maciej Pietras discussed a number of aspects regarding the experience. One such detail they touched on was weapon variety and how Cyberpunk 2077 has a bounty of it. “In the demo, you could see several types of weapons and different combat systems,” Pietras told the French website.

“All this is related to the class of the character that you will create, according to the skills you will improve,” they continued. “There will indeed be advantages to using this or that weapon, depending on how you level up your character. You will have the choice between technological weapons, powerful weapons, and intelligent weapons, and each of them will allow you to approach the game in several different ways.”

Speaking further on the subject, Pietras said, “For example, powerful weapons have a boost that allows weapons to ricochet against the walls and thus reach enemies hidden behind walls. Smart weapons take advantage of an autolock that can target an enemy with homing bullets. As for the melee weapons, you could see the Mantis Blades in the demo. These are incredible weapons, which are attached to the body of the character and allow them to climb on walls, but also to kill enemies in hand-to-hand. There is also another weapon, the katana, that we did not show in the demo but is interesting.”

We can’t wait to see exactly how interesting the katana really is. Plus, one can only imagine just how many different weapons will be available in Cyberpunk 2077, and all of the glorious ways we will be able to dispatch enemies. Needless to say, fun times are ahead in Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077 remains release date-less, but it is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
