Red Dead Redemption 2 Video Walks Fans Through NPC Daily Life (VIDEO)

Red Dead Redemption 2

How often do you walk through a game and think about the different NPC’s you run past? If you are like most gamers, you typically are just looking for one in particular that might be a drop off point for a quest or possibly a target that you need to take out. At most, you might have an escort mission in which you have to spend 5 minutes walking them through some type of dangerous situation – often times cussing at them as they are “walking too slow!”

Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open-world western RPG, filled with countless NPCs that you see thrown about the landscape doing various tasks that players would expect old-time westerners to be doing. The YouTube channel DefendTheHouse decided that it’s worth observing these non-player characters for a full in-game day cycle to see exactly what they do.

Each of the different characters we observe have their own daily tasks to carry out and leisurely activities. The first gentlemen we see starts his day leaving his house early in the morning and heading out to tend to his sheep. Once he is done working on the sheep yard, he spends most of his day moving feed bags around. After finishing the back-breaking work he’s conducted all day long, it’s off to the saloon to get a drink. Once he has had his fill at the saloon, it’s time to head back home and off to bed – to do it all over again the next day.

The second individual that is followed in the video starts his day off waking up at a saloon table where he drifted off from the night prior. Then, it’s off to work on the building being built next door to get things cleaned up before he starts doing construction work. After a short break to take a swig of stiff drink, he continues to construct the house – safely of course! After a few hours of working on the house, it’s back to the saloon for lunch and a drink. After an hour lunch he stumbles back to the construction site where more workers are also seen laboring away. After many hours of working and cleaning the construction site, its back to the saloon for evening drinks and to pass out on the table.

The final person lives at a camp site near town and starts his morning bright an early by chopping firewood and bringing them to a collection point. After that, he heads off into town to work as a stable-hand. He can be seen doing various tasks throughout the day like getting a bucket of water and moving hay to the horse pens. Then he heads back to the camp site for lunch, where he does his own dishes after he is through. After that, he’s back to a labor intensive work as a stable-hand before heading into the saloon for an evening drink. At nearly midnight, he stumbles back to the campsite to play the harmonica and fall asleep.

Hopefully, this video will help give a perspective into the daily lives of the NPCs that can be seen around Red Dead Redemption 2. These are just 3 individuals that live around the Valentine area doing their daily routine. Personally, it was very interesting to see all of different things they do on a given day. Many games, especially older titles, the NPC just stand in the same spot every time you see them. Red Dead Redemption 2 handles their NPCs very differently, in which they appear to live out individual lives and social interactions.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. What did you think about the video displaying the daily lives of an NPC? Were you expecting them to do so much in a given day? Sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below, and don’t forget to check out DFTG on Twitter for gaming and entertainment news live 24/7!
