Publisher Activision’s Call of Duty: WWII has swiftly become one of the most anticipated titles in the franchise. The franchise itself has been very successful and they’re is seeing a lot of promise from this next title. At a post-earnings conference call, Activision Blizzard discussed the performance of their top titles with investors in the not-too-distant future.

CEO Eric Hirshberg noted that Activision’s Call of Duty franchise is very strong according to trends in the series. He went on to discuss how the monthly active user base for Infinite Warfare is in line with their performance record from last year’s second quarter. This seems to be in conflict with the game’s reception with some considering the title a bit underwhelming.

According to Hirshberg, their success lies in the additional content being brought to titles like Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered. Also cited was the release of Zombies Chronicles that the CEO considers a testament to the strength of their Black Ops Zombies catalog. All in all, he feels that the past few quarters demonstrate the magnitude and resiliency of Activision’s Call of Duty and he had this to say about the coming WWII title:

On WWII specifically, probably most importantly, we think we have the right game at the right time. The return to boots-on-the-ground, the return to…authentic military content and context for the franchise is a welcome change and very well-timed.”

Publisher Activision’s Call of Duty: WWII has received overwhelmingly positive responses from fans and critics after their E3 demonstration. The games reveal trailer achieved the most likes of any CoD video in history, while their WWII Zombies trailer took the number one spot in their Zombies video list. That being said, the title will have a beta release on PS4 from August 25th through the 28th for fans with a pre-order.
