Bigger PUBG Maps Being Considered By Creator

PUBG Maps

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds may be hanging out in the shadow of Epic Games’ battle royale title Fortnite, but that hasn’t stopped the developers from wanting to improve the experience for players. When it comes to maps, while Fortnite only has one, PUBG offers a bit more variety, including the smaller 4×4 Savage map that is currently being tested. That being said, creator Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene recently stated that PUBG maps could see an increase in size moving forward.

In a recent interview, Greene discussed the addition of smaller maps. He mentioned that Codename: Savage seems to be doing well during its testing, which surely gives them hope to do more in the future. He also said that another 8×8 map is expected to arrive this year. What’s really interesting, however, is that Greene touched on the possibility of bringing even bigger PUBG maps into the mix. Here’s what he had to say:

We want to continue to add these battlegrounds,” Greene said. “We now know that 4×4 works really well for a smaller battle royale–maybe we’ll look in the future at doing more 4×4 maps, [while] keeping those two scales of maps and maybe even doing bigger maps. The whole idea is to experiment with the game mode and see what works well.”

It would certainly be interesting to see how players would react to a larger map. If the dev team were to go through with it, we can’t help but picture the addition of helicopters and planes as well. If not, maybe we could even see the player count per match bumped up to 150 or 200. Either way, interesting things are surely inbound for PlayerUnknown’s Battleground and its players.

PUBG is currently available on PC and Xbox One as well as mobile devices. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming news going on right now, including the option to select maps in PUBG, check out the following:
