Overwatch Winter Wonderland Event Details Revealed – New Battle Mode Coming (VIDEO)

Overwatch Winter Wonderland event

Fans of the wildly popular first-person shooter from Blizzard can soon get into the holiday spirit with the new Overwatch Winter Wonderland event. A developer update video detailed all of the new features coming for the seasonal event and there are some fun and exciting new things arriving in the game soon.

Firstly, the Overwatch Winter Wonderland event is bringing new holiday skins to some fan favorites. Roadhog and Junkrat will be getting into the spirit, while Hanzo will be sporting an “already seen” look that references the comics. While many of the characters are joining in on the festivities, a new game mode will also be underway this season. Check out all of the new features in the announcement video below:

The Overwatch Winter Wonderland event will be featuring a new battle mode called Mei’s Yeti Hunt. This all-out brawl features five Mei’s and one gigantic Winston (Our not so friendly neighborhood Yeti) who will also feature a new skin. Players fight together to defeat the oversized beast before he rages in a ridiculous battle royale. Meanwhile, Mei’s Snowball offensive is making a comeback and here is what Jeff Kaplan has to say about the event:

In this brawl, Mei’s Endothermic Blaster no longer unleashes a stream of frost or shoots icicles. Instead, it’s been modified to fire a single, super-powered snowball. Taking down an enemy only takes one hit, but a miss can be costly. Once your weapon is empty, your enemies will have the advantage as you search for the nearest snow pile to reload, so don’t forget to cover your retreat with ice walls and cryo-freeze to block their attacks—and when the battle starts to heat up, you can activate Mei’s Ultimate, which turns her blaster into a semi-automatic snowball launcher, allowing you to fire continuously as your enemies scatter.”

Of course, the new event will have more details revealed as the date quickly approaches. Excitement won’t have long to build as the extravaganza kicks off December 12th, but with all of the new goodies, it’s hard not to be stoked. Players can join in on the festivities on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
