Overwatch Anniversary 2018 Is Live – Celebrate With New Skins, Dances, And More! (VIDEO)

Overwatch

This Thursday (May 24) will mark two years since Blizzard Entertainment released their first FPS. Since then, gamers all over the world have come to love the Overwatch universe and its diverse cast of heroes. There might not be a traditional single-player campaign, but that hasn’t prevented Blizzard from providing players with plenty of backstory for these downright lovable characters. That said, the studio has kicked off the celebration a bit early with the arrival of the anniversary event, which is now live.

With the Overwatch Anniversary Event comes a bounty of new goodies for players to obtain. New skins, dances, sprays, and more are available as well as a new Deathmatch map! The video that was released to celebrate the launch of the event gives us a look at our heroes getting together to show off their new threads and fancy footwork. Check it out for yourself below:

Not only will delightful goodies be available, but past brawls will also be present for players to join in on some fun they may have missed. Speaking of the past, Anniversary Loot Boxes have the possibility of containing past items. Logging in for the first time during the event will also net you a “Legendary Anniversary Loot Box, with at least one guaranteed legendary item.”

As can be seen in the video above, the new Deathmatch map, Petra, looks to be all sorts of fun. “A group of archaeologists have begun an excavation and preservation project among the ruins of Petra,” reads the map’s description. With deep caverns, dangerous cliffs, and plenty of ways to meet an untimely death, Petra will certainly provide a bounty of joy for many. That said, at least you’ll look good while falling to your death on the new map, as there are eight legendary skins now in the game.

The Overwatch Anniversary Event is currently taking place, and it will last through June 11th on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming news going on right now, check out the following:
