A New Overwatch Event Celebrating the Game’s Anniversary Could be on its Way (VIDEO)

new Overwatch event

May 24 will mark one year since the release of Blizzard’s wildly popular team-based FPS Overwatch. Since launch, the video game has offered up a plethora of content for players. This has often arrived in the form of events, web comics and videos that provide a closer look into the lives of our favorite heroes, and even new characters. After having just wrapped up the Uprising event, Blizzard might already be loading up the canon with new content. Thanks to crafty Reddit user FailCraft, who data-mined the latest PTR update, it looks like a new Overwatch event is in the works, and it just might revolve around the first anniversary of the game.

Neatly packaged in a video on his YouTube account, where he goes by the name of Hammeh, FailCraft goes over his discoveries from his snooping around the PTR data. The first indication that a new Overwatch event was on its way, and quite possibly the most obvious one, is the fact that there are references to “EVENT 6” everywhere. They mostly pop up in relation to the characters and cosmetic loot, pointing to each hero receiving five to eight new items. New maps are also hinted at in the data, however, another Reddit user mentioned how it could just be one new map and a menu screen. Check out all the information in the video below:

With each new piece of content being successful in the past, there’s no reason Blizzard wouldn’t be working on a new Overwatch event. Even if Uprising just came to a close earlier this week, it’s the first anniversary, which is always a good time to celebrate! Unfortunately, Doomfist probably won’t be making it to the party later this month, but that doesn’t mean we’re losing hope for Terry Crews’ big announcement at E3 this year. Stay tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers to know what comes next.
