We’ve some exciting news for our Pokémon fans! Originally a Japanese exclusive, the Nintendo 2DS XL Pikachu Edition system is making its way stateside! The portable system features the face of our beloved electric-type Pokémon, Pikachu, in its iconic yellow color.

Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, released a statement alongside news of the arrival of the bright yellow system. “The New Nintendo 2DS XL Pikachu Edition is a charming addition to the Nintendo 3DS line-up that is sure to delight Pokémon fans of all ages,” said Bowser. “With a massive library of games, the Nintendo 3DS family of systems continues to deliver one-of-a-kind experiences for every type of gamer.”

The Nintendo 2DS XL Pikachu Edition has a launch date of January 26, 2018, with a suggested retail price of $159.99. As seen in the images above, the system comes in a bright yellow color with a brown ring outlining the cover, with Pikachu’s face smack dab in the middle.

The arrival of the new 2DS system isn’t the only thing being announced by the Big N. The news arrives on the back of the announcement that Detective Pikachu, also formerly a Japan-only exclusive, is making its way to the United States later this month. Additionally, Nintendo is also releasing the Game Boy Color title Pokémon Crystal on the Nintendo eShop on the same date as the arrival of the Pikachu Edition console, January 26. The game will cost $10, and will feature wireless battling and trading.
