WATCH: Detective Pikachu Game Receiving US Release And A Giant Amiibo Soon

Detective Pikachu Game

After spending a couple years in Japan, it looks like everyone’s favorite Pokemon gumshoe is heading out West! Nintendo has finally announced that they are bringing the Detective Pikachu game to the United States and Europe, and that they are releasing a huge Pikachu amiibo for those looking to add to their collection.

For the uninitiated, Detective Pikachu features the adorable little scamp as a gritty, coffee-loving investigator(think Bob Hoskins as Eddie Valiant in Who Framed Roger Rabbit). He has a human sidekick and, oh, he talks. After all, unless they picked up someone with an incredibly raspy voice to play the popular Pokemon, it might not have played out as well if he couldn’t use actual words. As for what the English version is going to be like, check out the trailer below:

The Detective Pikachu game is expected to arrive on March 23 for the Nintendo 3DS, with the full retail release coming to Europe, Japan, and the United States. The title will be coming with the first chapter as well as never released second one. On top of this, a huge amiibo is being launched on the same day.

Approximately more than twice the size of a standard amiibo character, the Detective Pikachu will unlock helpful videos in-game that assist players with their investigations. Don’t expect to see the screen while using it, however, because that thing is huge. Here it is standing next to a normal Pikachu amiibo:

Things are certainly coming up for the Pokemon flatfoot. Not only is the game seeing a Western release, but a movie is also being made. Set to star Ryan Reynolds as the titular character, the film will also feature The Get Down‘s Justice Smith as Pikachu’s human partner and Big Little Lies‘ Kathryn Newton as a journalist who gets mixed up in the case that Detective Pikachu is working on. Filming is expected to start any day now. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming news, check out the following:
