New Mafia Game Announced By 2K Games

New Mafia game

There are quite a few titans in the gaming industry, and one of the biggest these days has been 2K Games. The mega-publisher is responsible for such hit series as BioShock and the 2K sports games. One of their other big franchises is the Mafia series. While the series saw the Mafia: Definitive Edition release in 2020, there has not been a brand new game in the series since Mafia III in 2016. Hopefully, the series’s patient fans can hold on a little longer, as 2K Games has announced that they have greenlit a new Mafia game for development, as they celebrate a big milestone for the series.

2K Games made the announcement recently with a post on their official Twitter account. In the tweet, 2K Games confirms that a new Mafia game is in the works. It should be noted that the game is not referred to as Mafia 4, but simply as an “all-new Mafia project”, but it is possible that the game could be officially titled Mafia 4 at a later date. Along with the announcement, 2K shared a lengthy blog post that celebrates the franchise’s 20th anniversary.

The blog post features stories from developers who worked on games throughout the Mafia franchise history, including General Manager Roman Hladík, Head of Production and Media Director Tomáš Hřebíček, and Game Director Alex Cox. Their stories recount some of the more obscure and funny parts of the games. While no other details about the new Mafia game are given, the developers seem excited for a new piece of the Mafia story to be brought to life. Mamma mia! Here we go again.
