New Genshin Impact Leak Reveals Upcoming Playable Character

With Genshin Impact update 1.2 having recently released, fans are already looking forward to what the new year will bring to the immensely popular gacha game, even as they are taking their first steps into the newly available Dragonspine area. One such upcoming addition to the title will naturally be new playable characters, with a new Genshin Impact leak revealing that one such character will be Hu Tao, a Pyro polearm user.

The leak comes by way of Twitter user NEP NEP, who revealed that Hu Tao has been datamined to be either a 4* or 5* Pyro polearm user, with the latter rarity suggesting that she’ll make for a good alternative for those – like myself – that haven’t been able to score themselves a Diluc. A gorgeous piece of fanart for Hu Tao by u/Pellat is shown above, while NEP NEP’s tweet includes a glimpse of how the character model looks in-game:

As for the character’s personality, Hu Tao appears to be a bit of a hot-blooded trickster, disliked by many. The current overseer of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, Hu Tao seems determined to ‘bury’ the beloved 5* character Qiqi. Sure, Qiqi’s a zombie, but she’s a nice zombie and that makes all the difference. The current rumor is that Hu Tao will be dropping into Genshin Impact in a few months, though nothing’s been confirmed and anything related to the character can change up until her official release.

Genshin Impact is currently available for PC, PS4, and Android & iOS devices.

So, thoughts on the new character leak? Plan on pulling for Hu Tao if she ends up being a 5* character?
