NieR Re[in]carnation Launching In February With NieR: Automata Crossover Event (VIDEO)

Originally announced earlier this year, NieR Re[in]carnation has been touted as the next foray into the post-apocalyptic world created by Yoko Taro, albeit for Android and iOS devices. While we still don’t know too much about the upcoming title, it recently received its official JP release date alongside news that it will be launching with a NieR: Automata collaborative event that will see 2B, 9S, and A2 join the game as playable characters.

The news comes by way of the recent NieR 10th anniversary Christmas special stream, which covered numerous NieR-related content such as the ongoing collaboration with Final Fantasy XIV. The entire stream goes for about 5 hours, with the new mobile game kicking off the stream and running from about 9 minutes in until 44:40.

As for the collaborative bits of the stream, the developers were kind enough to snippit that out and throw it into a separate tweet. Said tweet reveals that the game will feature turn-based combat that encompasses the stylistic hack n’ slash gameplay synonymous with the NieR universe. 2B, 9S, and A2 can be seen in action below:

With the JP version of the game’s release date – and the start of the Automata collab – having been announced for February 18th, 2021, it will likely only be a few months before the game makes its Western debut.

NieR: Re[in]carnation is slated to release in Japan on February 18th, 2021, for Android and iOS devices.
