New BioShock, Borderlands 3 Reportedly Releasing This Year

Take-Two Interactive

It might be income tax season for everybody else, but companies are sitting down with investors and stakeholders to discuss financial gains. During their quarterly earnings call, Take-Two Interactive not only discussed the season they’ve had, but their plans for 2019 and 2020. There are two particularly successful franchises they have enormous plans for alongside publishing company 2K – BioShock and Borderlands.

While Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, doesn’t admit much in terms of which intellectual property they’re discussing in-house, the aforementioned are primary predictions for 2019 and onward. Around the same time last year, Take-Two revealed that a “highly anticipated new title from one of 2K’s biggest franchises” is expected to arrive sometime in 2019. That was followed by confirmation of Red Dead Redemption 2’s launch for the last half of 2018.

While it doesn’t give any single fandom closure as to which franchise will come next out of 2K and Take-Two Interactive, they can’t go wrong with which they choose will launch first. If we were to speak in terms of a belated release, it’s safe to say that the BioShock series is due for another title soon since Infinite arrived in 2013. Despite the fact that it went gold before Borderlands 2 (2012), it seems like ages ago that anything BioShock related has been shared from the respective studios.

Despite it all, all comments are currently speculative. Red Dead Redemption 2 has taken the video game industry by storm having won a multitude of awards during The Game Awards ceremony last year. In terms of current events, Respawn Entertainment and EA’s free-to-play online shooter, Apex Legends, hit over 10 million players within three days of the surprise launch. As usual, the industry is on the up and up and that’s fantastic news for gamers everywhere.

In terms of Take-Two Interactive, which of the two are you looking forward to seeing first – a new BioShock title or Borderlands 3?
