Netflix’s The Witcher Writer Reveals Cut Monster Scene Concept Art
While Netflix’s The Witcher focused more on monsters of the human variety than beastly creatures. Still, there were still monsters that Geralt was tasked with tracking down and eliminating, whether by killing the creature or finding a way to pacify them. One creature was comedically mentioned in a particular scene in the show but unfortunately never made the cut to actually be viewed in its full potential.
Episode 4 saw Geralt come back to a tavern covered in blood, mud, and more after a villager recounts the tale of his fight with a Selkie Maw. While the scene ended up being an excellent place for some comic relief within the show, writer Declan de Barra recently revealed in a tweet that the scene could have played out much differently. Barra explained that the scene would have played out much like the villager of the tavern scene recounted, cutting his way out of the beast from the inside. Unfortunately, the writer team ultimately decided against using the scene in the final cut of Netflix’s The Witcher series.
In 104 we meet Geralt after he has killed a beast called a Selkie Maw. Originally he was going to be swallowed by it, cut his way out & be chased by fifthy squirming baby selkie maws. Sketch I made when pitching to room… pic.twitter.com/0B30uZI3Mr
