Netflix Hiring Game Designers For More Interactive Shows Like Bandersnatch

Netflix

Black Mirror is a collection of short TV episodes that explore techno-paranoia with suspenseful and satirical plotlines. Last year, the sci-fi anthology took things to a new level by introducing an episode called Bandersnatch that took the idea of a “choose-your-own-adventure” and turned it into an interactive film. Now it appears that Netflix may be interested in following up on the success of the Black Mirror short film thanks to a new job listing for a narrative designer.

The job listing asks for someone with 8 or more years of “professional hands-on narrative and/or game design experience in a digital media or production environment” and will primarily focus on working with designers, producers, and more to create the next generation of Netflix storytelling. Following on the heels of Bandersnatch, Netflix hopes to re-imagine the future of  entertainment and the Narrative Designer will be an integral part of this process.

There’s been a lot of interesting interactive storytelling seen within the game industry. Titles such as The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, and more have captured the hearts of many fans. Being a film, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch brought the idea of making choices alongside a live-action film to reality (though not the first to do so by any means) and did it incredibly well. One can only imagine where Netflix hopes to go from here. Hopefully, the company will be able to revolutionize the entertainment industry by bringing more and more interactive stories that fans will be able to enjoy.
