Morrowind Remaster Not Going To Happen, Says Bethesda

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is undeniably a fan favorite game within the popular Bethesda series, so naturally fans went crazy when it was revealed that Elder Scrolls Online players had a Morrowind expansion to look forward to that would see them once again exploring the isle of Vvardenfell. With so much love for Morrowind, one would think that a possible remaster could be on the horizon, especially given the rampant number of Skyrim ports and remasters out nowadays. Alas, this is unfortunately not the case.

Bethesda Game Director Todd Howard recently spoke with The Guardian about the future of several of the developer’s franchises, while also discussing whether or not current plans include any remasters of past games. “For Skyrim Remastered, we had done some work on it but it was already pretty visually close, “Howard said.

But for something like Morrowind, my personal preference is not to remaster it. We [also] get asked a lot to remaster [1997’s] Fallout 1, and I usually say, if you have a PC you can play Fallout the way it was. I think that’s how it should be.”

So, unfortunately it appears that a Morrowind remaster is not in the cards, at least not for now. Thankfully, fans get look forward to other upcoming Bethesda titles, such as Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls VI, which is rumored to take place in Hammerfell.

Fallout 76 releases for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 14, 208. The Elder Scrolls VI arrives at some point in the future.

So, thoughts on Todd Howard’s above comments? Would you prefer a different Elder Scrolls game get a remaster?
