Monster Hunter World Character Redesign Feature May Be Added If Demand Is High Enough

Capcom is considering the addition of a Monster Hunter World character “do-over” feature that will allow players to redesign them after the game has already begun. Following a slew of feedback and critique regarding their character customization, it’s no wonder either. According to several online posts from players in Japan, the creation process is fine and dandy, allowing for a great variety of options to choose from.

In fact, some of the results are gorgeous. However, once in game, the results are far from what they had imagined. The biggest issues lies with the facial features. From the three-dimensional, carved out look seen during the customization process to an ultimately washed out and smooshed face in-game. In the end, all the effort concentrated into making a unique character doesn’t seem to matter. Since there’s no do-over option available once you start, it’s a bit of a bummer for some and hilarity for others.

There’s enough voice on this issue that Capcom’s producer Ryozo Tsujimoto offered his consoling words:

You can’t redo it, but when making a character you can check their expressions, so you might want to do that first while making a character. However, if there’s enough demand for it then I’ll put it under consideration.”

Director Yuya Tokuda chipped in as well, saying that manipulating the lighting of the screen may help with a more accurate build. Of course, players may differ on that argument especially those of whom took careful consideration the painstaking details of their Monster Hunter World character.
